ALIMS CALL TO MUSLIMS TO BOYCOTT 2010 SOCCER WORLD CUP INOPPORTUNE

The call on Muslim radio stations by the AL JAMA-AH Political Party to Moulana Yunis Patel and Mufti A.K. Hussein to have a change of heart and support the national team and reverse their call on Muslims to boycott the 2010 soccer event has met with a mixed response as the Alims are very influential. The Party is concerned that the boycott call will damage Muslim-African relations in South Africa as the event is positioned as an African event and was made at the the same time that there is a fictitious Muslim terrorist threat and a local professor is fueling tensions saying more and more Muslims are becoming terrorists in South Africa. South Africa is set to stage the best ever world cup event and it must not be said decades later that Muslims did not help.
