AL JAMA-AH NEEDS 40 000 VOTES FOR A SEAT IN PARLIAMENT
“The shariah should not only shape our personal lives but the society we live in” The AL JAMA-AH political party, South Africa’s Muslim Party, pleaded with the most senior Mufti’s, Moulana’s and Sheikhs in the country who have now given the Party its support. The AL JAMA-AH stalwarts Ganief Hendricks, Razak Noorbhai, Mogamad Bedford, Sheikh AbduragiemAbderoef and Abduragiem Orrie have completed most of their visits to the Ulema in the country and with theirduah’s will launch their election campaign on the night of Laila tul Qadr as the month of Ramadan comes to aclose. The campaign will start with a drive to get Muslims to register as voters and to contribute financially to the campaign. Raising funds for a political party is not as easy to raise funds for charity or to build a mosque but the Party hopes that this mailer will give it a kickstart insha Allah. The Party eends 1 million randfor deposits to contest the elections and a million rand more for its campaign. But every R30 will help.
Ulema have sent the Party hundreds of bags ofrice, grains and blankets to distribute in the poorest areas of Cape Town and Gauteng which we did making food parcles and cooking food and making soup. We are now making 5000 dresses for needy older girls and women. This has shown that Party volunteers are not only interested in getting votes but also to help alleviate hunger and help the most vulnerable to get a warm plate of food and make sure our women are assisted to be properly dressed in terms of Islamic norms especially on the gangster ridden Cape Flats in Cape Town. Because of our feeding programme crime has reduced in these areas. Party Councillors help indigent Muslims with their arrear municipal accounts, helps mosques with complaints by hostile community members, challenge un Islamic by-laws and Councillors serve n several committees to ensure service delivery.
The Party’s manifesto is simple:
We want the shariah to shape the society the society we live in. * We want full employment and a decent job with benefits – matriculants must be guaranteed a job * There must always be access to a warm plate of food * Laws must be tightened to ensure men nafaqah their wives * South Africa must support the full liberation ofMasjidul Aqsa in its foreign policy * An interest free banking system and immediate interest free micro loans. A Muslim Bench manned by Ulema to deal with Muslim Personal Law matters and disputes.
During the 2009 national elections AL JAMA-AH got 30 000 votes far less than the 75 000 votes Muslim Parties got in 2004. The 30 000 votes came from 2000 voting stations in all nine provinces. If the Party gets 10 more votes in each of the 2000 voting stations we will have a seat in Parliament insha Allah. The Party has a seat in the City of Cape Town and a seat in the City of Johannesburg. It is making an impact in the these two municipalities and it is ready to make an impact in parliament insha Allah. To do so it needs just over 40 000 votes.
