On Saturday.12th April Adv.MP Shameemah Salie had a meeting with the team of construction modality used by Natural Building Collective alongside several stakeholders Lovenaire, Uthando, (James Fernie) Heart of Cape Town, Cape Flats Sports Academy, (Ashraf Allie) at the building site of ECD in Heideveld.

The projects are exciting and have amazing potential for cost effective, environmentally friendly building of sports complexes, agriculture hubs, Arts and community spaces, homes, ECD’s and much more.

These projects are creating local employment in the labour intensive construction process, cleaning the environment through the collection of litter and utilising waste for building. It provides holistic benefits.

Tyres, plastic bottles filled with litter are but a few of the items used and the finalized construction is pleasing on the eye and easier on the pocket.

These buildings will be so unique, innovative and inspiring. It encompasses many elements including art and culture.
The designs are unique, bringing sports to communities

There is a 5-a-side soccer pitch at Woodlands Primary and these pitches can be constructed at schools all over the Cape Flats (infact all over South Africa). The soccer pitches form part of the broader campaign and part of the training for local people to learn how to build using tyres.

A 5 a side at Woodlands Primary School kids absolutely love playing on that soccer pitch.

One of the latest projects at Cape Flats Sports Academy is a mega project with Uthando South Africa and Natural Building Collective.

They are in the process of building the Moeen Ali sports complex.
It would be amazing for the government to seriously consider the relevant option as it is both cost effective, environmentally friendly and brings many opportunities and a conducive alternative to many of the struggling communities in South Africa.

Salie said, I would most definitely encourage our government and businesses to reach out and get involved and support these projects.
