IN COMMEMORATION OF NAKBA DAY
Nakba Day, which was observed on 15 May 2024, is a commemoration of the Nakba – the Palestinian Catastrophe – which comprised the onset of the destruction of Palestinian life and society upon their homeland from1948, causing the violent and widespread tragic displacement of the majority of the Palestinian people.
The violation of the Palestinian people started here, in 1948, with the blueprints for this violent colonial project already taking root in the early 1900’s and given public expression through the Balfour Declaration published on 2 November 1917.
It was this undeniably unjust, cruel and unlawful declaration, on a worthless piece of paper, between two key roleplayers within the entities which set themselves up as the superpowers of their time, that caused the domino effect in the destruction of Palestine.
Al Jama-ah was categorically the FIRST political party to place the Palestinian cause on the Parliamentary agenda. The party further is the only party that rejects the double-edged policy which aims to force an unsustainable, unfeasible and unjust narrative on the elusive red-herring: the two-state solution.
Among its public engagements and stand for the rights of Palestine to be free from colonisation, and safe from genocide, Al Jama-ah regularly publicly protests against the Zionist project in Palestine and within our own borders, participates in media platforms and refuses their patronage to all Zionist companies which sponsor the bloody genocide of our Palestinian people.
In joining the commemoration of Nakba Day, Al Jama-ah hosted a motorcade through Factreton, Kensington and Maitland, and thereafter, made its way to sign the Pledge in support of the liberation of Palestine, at the Cape of Good Hope Castle.
Al Jama-ah urgently calls for the protection of the Palestinian people, for Sanctions against the Israeli Occupying Forces for the atrocities they are committing in Palestine, including Genocide and other International Crimes.
The Party further urges that similar smart sanctions be effected against business and states that are aiding and abetting and are otherwise complacent in these crimes.
