Developing Rural Villages into Smart Villages

Al Jama-ah Villagers league was created for the sole purpose of taking programs to rural areas to ensure development of rural areas and improving the lives of residents of these areas.

The Villagers League held its first meeting in Umzinto, KZN in February 2022. We gathered Al Jama-ah public representatives and National Leadership including the NWC and NEC under the theme “Turning rural villages into Smart Villages”.

Al Jama-ah Villagers League has over 60 villages across the country that they are assisting in rural upliftment.

Al Jama-ah is the only political party that has a Villagers League that cares for the Villages in South Africa.

FARMING AND AGRICULTURE-PIETRMARITZBURG, KZN

* Al Jama-ah Villagers League is fulfilling its mandate of developing the lives of people in the rural and underdeveloped areas of South Africa.
* Pictured on the next page is one of our farms where 50 000 vegetable plants have been planted. The produce will be sold by the locals to earn a living for themselves and they will reinvest this creating sustainable development. The farm is running over 3 hectares of land. Al Jama-ah Villagers league – developing sustainable livelihoods – developing lives!

GROUTEVILLE PEANUT BUTTER FACTORY-STANGER, KZN

Al Jama-ah has created a platform for unemployed women in Stanger to open a peanut butter factory. The project has been funded by Al Jama-ah. This initiative is for women empowerment in communities and has created job opportunities for many women in the community The project is run and managed by the Al Jama-ah Women’s League President, Ma Veli Luthuli.

SEWING PROJECT- UMZINTO, KZN

Al Jama-ah Launches Innovative Sewing Campaign, Empowering Umdoni’s Women through Material Support to Co-ops and Small Businesses
* Al Jama-ah, a leading community-oriented political organization, is thrilled to unveil a groundbreaking sewing campaign that not only empowers local women in Umdoni but also supports cooperative enterprises and small businesses within the community.

MPAME FISHING VILLAGE- EASTERN CAPE

Mpame Village is a village located in rural Eastern Cape, on the shores of the Indian Ocean. The village is poverty stricken and residents identified that there is an opportunity to make use of the ocean for economic development. Thus, Al Jama-ah assisted the co-op with acquisition of a fishing vessel, training and a cold storage unit. The co-op is functional and thus are making use of the program to enhance their lives through better standards.

WHEELCHAIR DRIVE – HARDING AND UMZINTO, KZN

* Al Jama-ah in Harding and Umzinto has donated wheelchairs to the community members that are in need of them.
* Many elderly or disabled community members are unable to afford wheelchairs.
* Al Jama-ah changed their lives by providing them with their needs.

YOUTH SPORTS TOURNAMENTS

 Annually, Al Jama-ah hosts sports tournament for the youth in different areas of the country. So far, the tournament has been held in Madibeng Municipality in Northwest Province, Shiluvane Village in Limpopo and Mtubatuba Village in KwaZulu Natal. These tournaments are hosted to encourage youthful activities in the area and assist the community with fighting drug and alcohol abuse in their communities.

SOUP KITCHEN-DRAKENSTEIN, WESTERN CAPE

Al Jama-ah Councilor Stulweni in Drakenstein, Paarl assists the community with fighting hunger. Every week he hosts a soup kitchen in his community and donates food hampers to the community.

EACH ONE FEED ONE CAMPAIGN

Al Jama-ah is hosting an ‘Each one Feed one’ campaign at the different Offices across the country.

Members from the community that can donate, or sponsor hampers or items of food deliver them at our office, and we distribute it to community members who leave their names at the office if they are in need of food.

The campaign is growing well, and we are helping to fight hunger in our communities.

SCHOOL SHOES DRIVE- MTUBATUBA

Al Jam-ah has donated pairs of school shoes to children that are disadvantaged.

We care for the lives and better for school children as they are the future of our country!
