Imraan Moosa wins first Council Ward for AL JAMA-AH

The AL JAMA-AH party is thanking all the residents of Ward 9 in Lenasia for casting their votes in favour of AL JAMA-AH and the party’s first Ward Councillor, Hafiz Imraan Moosa during the by-elections on the 11th November 2020.

The Party is also thanking all other role players, especially the larger community of Lenasia – CPF (Community Police Forum) members, towing truck drivers, health care workers and the kind support from local businesses. You all have contributed greatly to AL JAMA-AH’s victory in Ward 9 and we honour your support and sacrifices made.

AL JAMA-AH also congratulates Imraan Moosa for the victory and for making history by winning the party’s first council ward. We are confident Moosa will now work together with the community in his ward to improve conditions and to ensure better service delivery.

An elated party leader and Member of Parliament Hon. Ganief Hendricks said: “I’m very proud of the party’s historic win in Ward 9 in Lenasia. This is a victory for good governance in the City of Johannesburg where the party’s PR councillor, Thapelo Amad has been appointed as a member to the MMC (Member Mayoral Committee) and his services as a PR councillor will extend to all the wards in Lenasia – our vote in Ward 9 is the vote for the entire Johannesburg.”

Moosa is pledging to “Bring Back Lenasia to its former glory” by addressing and acting on grievances raised by the community in Lenasia:

  • Informal settlements – Finding suitable solutions to the increasing establishment of informal structures.
  • Crime – Compile a comprehensive report on the grievances to present to the City of Johannesburg to act on immediately. Demands include visible and intensive City policing along with SAPS constant surveillance.
  • Unsightly environment – Plans to make Lenasia go green by planting trees, grass and flowers at strategic points in the suburb.
  • Recreational amenities – We are targeting to beautify our sports fields and parks. These public spaces will also become safe for our community and especially our children to enjoy.
  • Employment – We are very serious in initiating a process of employment opportunities in the area of small business development, especially targeted at young people.
  • Economy – Local businesses within Lenasia must be reinvented in order to excel and attract local shoppers and in so doing help build Lenasia’s once-booming economy. We plan to assist in enhancing local businesses to attract shoppers,  trade and to become more feasible to its shoppers.

AL JAMA-AH Constituency Office

The party will “bring Parliament to the people” by launching a constituency office in Lenasia for residents to bring all their grievances to the office. Residents approach the Constituency office for assistance with problems of electricity billing, inadequate service delivery, blocked drains, paving, road works, safety, etc. These matters can be addressed at the Constituency office by making the necessary inquiries to either local, provincial or national governments.

During a radio interview, Councillor Amad announced that the Department of Development Planning will prioritize on 10 strategies including the handling the of land zoning, approval of plans, spatial integration, green building and by-law enforcement.

The residents of Lenasia have already been through two decades of inadequate service delivery and AL JAMA-AH will change that!. Al Jama-ah thanks the community of Lenasia for their support by voting for Al Jama-ah!

AL JAMA-AH’s two councillors call on residents to feel free to provide them with any other matters of concern to be addressed by the Council.
