Villagers League

Developing Rural Villages into Smart Villages

THE WORK OF AL JAMA-AH VILLAGERS LEAGUE

Al Jama-ah Villagers league was created for the sole purpose of taking programs to rural areas to ensure development of rural areas and improving the lives of residents of these areas.

The Villagers League held its first meeting in Umzinto, KZN in February 2022. We gathered Al Jama-ah public representatives and National Leadership including the NWC and NEC under the theme “Turning rural villages into Smart Villages”.

Al Jama-ah Villagers League has over 60 villages across the country that they are assisting in rural upliftment.

Al Jama-ah is the only political party that has a Villagers League that cares for the Villages in South Africa.

OUR PROJECTS

1.

FARMING AND AGRICULTURE – KZN

Developing the lives of people in the rural and underdeveloped areas of South Africa.

We oversee numerous farms in the area where over 80 000 vegetable plants have been planted. The produce will be sold by the locals to earn a living for themselves and they will reinvest this creating sustainable development. The farm is running over 3 hectares of land.

Al Jama-ah Villagers league – developing sustainable livelihoods – developing lives!

2.

GROUTEVILLE PEANUT BUTTER FACTORY – STANGER, KZN

We have created a platform for unemployed women in Stanger to open a peanut butter factory.

The project has been funded by Al Jama-ah.
This initiative is for women empowerment in communities and has created job opportunities for many women in the community

The project is run and managed by the Al Jama-ah Women’s League President, Ma Veli Luthuli.

3.

SEWING PROJECT – UMZINTO, KZN

Our Innovative Sewing Campaign, empowers Umdoni’s Women through Material Support to Co-ops and Small Businesses

This groundbreaking sewing campaign, not only empowers local women in Umdoni but also supports cooperative enterprises and small businesses within the community.

4.

MPAME FISHING VILLAGE- EASTERN CAPE

Mpame Village is a village located in rural Eastern Cape, on the shores of the Indian Ocean.

The village is poverty stricken and residents identified an opportunity to make use of the ocean for economic development. So, Al Jama-ah got involved and assisted the co-op with the acquisition of a fishing vessel, training and a cold storage unit.

The co-op is now fully independent and operational – practically uplifting the lives of residence.

5.

WHEELCHAIR DRIVE – HARDING AND UMZINTO, KZN

Al Jama-ah in Harding and Umzinto have gotten involved in sourcing and distributing wheelchairs to community members in need of them.
Many elderly or disabled community members are unable to afford wheelchairs, and without a wheelchair many are excluded from community particpation, unable to make a living or meet their own basic living needs. Dependent on the goodwill of those around them, for everything. These wheelchairs change their lives, empowering and enbling them to live a fuller, more productive and independent life.

6.

YOUTH SPORTS TOURNAMENTS

This initiative was started, to enagage the youth, To encourage youthful activities and assist the community with fighting drug and alcohol abuse in the community – especially among the youth.

Bring together the youth from different parts of the country, these sports tournaments are held annually. So far, the tournament has been held in Madibeng Municipality in Northwest Province, Shiluvane Village in Limpopo and Mtubatuba Village in KwaZulu Natal.

These tournaments are hosted, sponsored and facilitated by Al Jama-ah.

7.

SOUP KITCHEN – DRAKENSTEIN, WC

The need was simple – food. Nothing can happen, without that need first being fulfilled. Children cannot grow and study, adults cannot work. It was a matter of first things first!

So, we responded. Operated by Al Jama-ah Councilor Stulweni in Drakenstein, Paarl, Al Jama-ah stepped in, and set up asoup kitchen, to assists the community with fighting hunger. Every week we host a soup kitchen distributing food hampers and clothing to the community, that we collate and source throughout the preceding week.

8.

EACH ONE FEED ONE CAMPAIGN

‘Each one Feed one’ is an internal initiative, driven from within Al Jama-ah.
Each county office drives the campaign in their area.
Community member in need, leave their names at our offices. Then our staff working with the local communities. donate, or sponsor hampers or items of food which they deliver  to our offices. From there the food is delivered to the families in need.
The campaign is growing well, and making a debt on the overwhelming fight against hunger in our communities.

9.

SCHOOL SHOES DRIVE- MTUBATUBA

Recognising a childs basic right to learn is one thing, but it doesn’t stop there.
There are practical needs which need to be met, to make that learning fruitful. A hungry, malnourished and ‘cold’ child cannot concentrate. This is a nationwide initiative to meet those needs. Working hand in hand with our feeding projects,  we have sourced, sponsored or donated school shoes to hundreds of disadvantaged children.

Our children our future. They need our help!
