Two Nederburg families in Paarl East have been left homeless after their houses caught fire on 28 March 2023.

The Collins family’s house was completely gutted by the fire.
And the Pietersen’s house was partially burnt leaving them with only two rooms to use.
Both families have young school-going children.

Since the fire, the families have been provided with three meals daily by Al Jama-ah Drakenstein Councillor Ahmed Stulweni, welfare worker Mrs Diana Adams (aunty Dinah) and fellow Al Jama-ah members who offered moral support.

The Rural Islamic Welfare Association (RIWA) has kindly responded to the party’s appeal for more assistance by donating food parcels to Al Jamah-ah for the victims of the fire.
Al Jama-ah – Drakenstein extends its gratitude to RIWA for the food parcels.

Aunty Dinah was accompanied by Achmad Patel and youth member Fareeda Patel to hand over the parcels.
