National Dialogue on Coalition Governments

National Dialogue on Coalition Governments

The National Dialogue on Coalition Governments [4-5 August 2023] was hosted by the Deputy President Mashatile, in collaboration with the Dullah Omar Institute at the University of the Western Cape.

“When we form those thresholds and frameworks and mechanisms that will guide us – just as the Constitution guides us – we must do this with the citizen in mind.

It is not only about politics; it also has to be about the administration. We cannot have political musical chairs played in the political realm of governance! We have to talk about how we create stability and professionalism in an administration process. At the same time, it is not about the Municipal Managers, the Director Generals, and the Heads of Departments who are also being shuffled around. When all sides are playing that game the citizens suffer, and service delivery suffers.

This dialogue must turn into a concrete framework, a concrete set of rules that we must urgently put in place to make sure that the next 30 years of governments in South Africa give the citizens the services, dignity, aspirations, and the environment that they deserve. We have that responsibility and opportunity here, and we must do it with the “fierce urgency of now”.

Electricity Must Fall

Electricity Must Fall

Al Jama- ah women’s league salutes the organisers of Action Group of Electricity Must Fall

We commend you for standing up for those most affected by the exorbitant costs imposed by the City of Cape Town.

Working in the communities we are all to familiar with the plight of our treasures in our communities, our elders who are already struggling to survive on their pension. Now our elders are taxed with the injustice of added costs by the City of Cape Town for electricity.

Our seniors are expected to run from pillar to post for rebates and given the tedious task at their age to beg for assistance.
Our seniors, we see you and we are here to fight for you!

We are all to familiar with the plight of struggling mothers and fathers who are affected by these costs.
We see you are here to stand up for you and your children

Our mothers battling for maintenance for children and now expected to further fight a battle against ridiculous increase of electricity costs.
We see you and are here to raise up and support you

Many in our vulnerable communities are unemployed and cannot afford transport and yet are expected to pay excessive electricity costs.
We are here we see you and are here to stand up for you

Our foster homes, orphanages, our special needs adults and children – we see you!

We are here to stand up to grant you ease!

26 August 2023 is a day where we as citizens stand united against the crippling costs implemented by those who sold out the residents of Cape Town by proclaiming they care and instead showed their care by hitting the pockets of the most vulnerable in our communities – the most affected, the poor and middle class.

The increased cost is a way of keeping people poor and pushing middle class into the poverty line.

Who are the beneficiaries of these elevated costs by the City?

We as the Al Jama-ah women’s league encourage all to stand up against these ridiculous increase in costs!

Join us 26th August, and make your voice heard.

Al Jama-ah Women’s League Launch

Al Jama-ah Women’s League Launch

On the 9th of August 2023 Al Jama-ah officially launched its women’s league in Western Cape. The launch was held in Ward 67 Pelican Park where the party has a large support base.

Al Jama-ah women’s league mottos stem from and recognises that alone as women we are strong but we are “Stronger Together”

Women have been on the forefront of coalitions and we have been able to come together, work together, nurture, care for, uplift and empower our communities, our country and each other.

Women have been able to set aside differences over generations for the common good of humanity and have been on the forefront of change indeed women together is a force that many will fear for “if you strike a women you strike a rock”

Al Jama-ah recognize that women needs a political platform whereby they can be the leaders of beneficial change and be fully participative in the much needed transformation required in our country.

Al Jama-ah further recognises the leader of Al Jama-ah Honourable Ganief Hendricks who identifies the oppression faced by women and has strived to ensure a platform for women to be heard in Parliament whereas many others have failed us.

President Ganief Hendricks has been on the forefront in Parliament to ensure the dignity and justice for women and has presented and contributed towards 4 bills and amendments where relevant to effect beneficial change for women.

Honourable Ganief Hendricks has ensured that women are given the space to lead and effect change and the space to govern.

Though the official launch of the women’s league is long overdue, the beauty of the Al Jama-ah women’s league is that we are not promising what we envision doing, we are striving to increase our footprint and do more. The women in Al Jama-ah have for years been serving, uplifting and empowering communities and will use their existing relevant platforms to extend and grow and help more communities with the Qudrat of Allah SWT.  Being on the ground for years in communities we are all to aware of the challenges and injustice faced by women of all races and cultures

Over generations we continue to face the impact of GBV, discrimination, genocide, unemployment, poverty, substance abuse, threats from external forces on how we raise our children in terms of education and culture and with the constant threat of other social ills.

Our faith and God consciousness and moral compass guides our conduct and the decisions we make for indeed as the prophet Moegammad S.A.W stated: “The condition of society depends on the consciousness of our women”

Our mission is to fund, strengthen and uphold the principles of Al Jama-ah to strive for unity, justice, peace, upliftment and empowerment of our women.

The women in Al Jama-ah has worked alongside many non profit organizations and individuals to identify the needs in the community and to assist in empowerment and upliftment of those in need no matter the race, culture or affiliation for Al Jama-ah it’s is about assisting humanity and we welcome all organisations and women to become a part of Al Jama-ah Women’s League

Women needs to take this opportunity and participate in the structures to bring about social economic change and enhance the development of not only a community but our country

May the Almighty grant Al Jama-ah women’s league beneficial success Ameen

Honouring the Women of Africa

Honouring the Women of Africa

As South Africa comes together to celebrate National Women’s Day, we take this opportunity to recognise and honour the indomitable spirit of the nation’s women. This day holds immense significance as it not only commemorates the struggles of women throughout history but also serves as a powerful reminder of their achievements and contributions to every aspect of society.

On August 9th, we remember the courageous march of 20,000 women who, in 1956, took to the streets of Pretoria to protest against the discriminatory pass laws imposed by the apartheid regime. This demonstration of unity and strength laid the foundation for the powerful women’s rights movement that has shaped South Africa’s history.

National Women’s Day is a testament to the resilience and empowerment of women in the face of adversity. From the heroines of the anti-apartheid movement to the trailblazers of today, South African women have always been at the forefront of driving change and progress.

In the workplace, women have shattered barriers and made remarkable strides. They hold influential positions in business, politics, science, and arts, showcasing their talent and expertise on both national and international platforms. Despite facing challenges, South African women have proven time and again that they are forces to be reckoned with, contributing significantly to the nation’s economic growth and development.

Beyond the workplace, South African women play a pivotal role in building vibrant communities. Their unwavering dedication to nurturing families, supporting neighbours, and advocating for social justice has transformed the nation. They have been at the forefront of initiatives to address pressing issues such as gender-based violence, access to education, and healthcare.

Economically, women have been instrumental in driving entrepreneurship and innovation. Their entrepreneurial ventures contribute to the country’s economic diversity and job creation. Investing in women’s economic empowerment is crucial for South Africa’s sustainable development and prosperity.

However, while we celebrate the achievements of women on this special day, we cannot ignore the persistent challenges they face. Gender-based violence remains a pressing issue, with many women experiencing violence and abuse in their daily lives. Furthermore, gender disparities in pay and underrepresentation in leadership roles continue to hinder the full potential of women.

National Women’s Day calls us to action – to create a society where women can live free from fear and discrimination. We must stand united in eradicating gender-based violence, supporting survivors, and challenging harmful attitudes and behaviours.

Empowering women economically is equally crucial. By providing access to education, skills development, and business opportunities, we can foster a more inclusive economy that benefits all South Africans. A Villagers League supported by largely women groups is seeing the emergence of a peanut butter manufacturing plant in Groutville, home to the late ANC leader, Chief Albert Luthuli . This is one of the outcomes commemorating Women’s Day in KZN.

Additionally, we must continue to promote gender equality in all spheres of life. Encouraging greater representation of women in decision-making processes and leadership roles is essential to ensure diverse perspectives and create a more equitable society.

As we celebrate National Women’s Day in South Africa, let us remember the sacrifices and struggles of the past while celebrating the achievements of the present. Let this day serve as a powerful reminder of the collective power of women and the crucial role they play in shaping the nation’s future.

May every South African woman be recognized, valued, and empowered not just on this special occasion but every day of the year. Together, let us build a South Africa where women can thrive, and their contributions are celebrated, leading us towards a more prosperous and inclusive society for all.
