On 04 March 2026, MMC for Community Development Thapelo Amad attended a city-wide strategic engagement convened by the Executive Mayor together with Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMCs).
The meeting included detailed presentations from the Gauteng AIDS Council (GAC), the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), as well as representatives from civil society organisations. Discussions focused on strengthening coordinated responses to HIV/AIDS, improving intergovernmental collaboration, and ensuring municipal programmes are aligned with provincial and national public health priorities.
The engagement highlighted the importance of integrated planning, shared accountability, and sustained partnerships between government and civil society to effectively address ongoing health and social development challenges.
By participating in this city-wide forum, MMC Amad reaffirmed the City’s commitment to collaborative governance and proactive engagement in tackling public health concerns affecting communities across the region.
