Moulana Galil Brinkhuis is Al Jama-ah’s Member of the Provincial Legislature in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. He has a certificate in advance governance from Wits University.

He currently holds the following memberships on the various provincial government committees:

– The Ad Hoc Committee on the Impact of the National Energy Crisis (Western-Cape-Provincial-Committee);
– The Ad Hoc Committee on Appointments to the Public Service Commission (Western-Cape-Provincial-Committee);
– The Programme Authority (Western-Cape-Provincial-Legislature-Committee);
– The Oversight Committee over the response to TB-related matters (WCPP) (Ad Hoc Committees);
– The Finance, Economic Opportunities and Tourism (Western-Cape-Provincial-Legislature-Committee);
– The Conduct Committee (Western-Cape-Provincial-Committee);
– The Budget Committee (Western-Cape-Provincial-Committee); and is an Alternate Member at the Standing Committee on Education (Western-Cape-Provincial-Legislature-Committee).

Galil is a Qaari (narrator) of the Quraan, and a Mufti in Islamic Law. He further studied astronomy at UNISA and has a 3rd degree black belt in Kionkoshunkai Karate.
