Al Jama-ah Condemns Joint US–Israel Strikes on Iran, Calls for Diplomacy and Respect for International Law
Johannesburg, South Africa — The Al Jama-ah political party has expressed deep concern and condemnation following the recent joint military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran, warning that the escalation significantly heightens tensions across the Middle East and undermines global peace and stability.
Party Leader Ganief Hendricks said Al Jama-ah is guided by the moral and spiritual principles of Islam during times of crisis.
“As Muslims, we are comforted by the wisdom of our faith, which teaches us not to regard those who are killed in the path of justice as lost, but as returning to their Lord. The loss of life in this conflict is deeply tragic, and we reject the continuation of violence that claims innocent lives.”
Al Jama-ah has aligned itself with the position articulated by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, as well as the stance of the Government of South Africa under President Cyril Ramaphosa, emphasizing that adherence to international law and the pursuit of diplomatic solutions must prevail over military aggression.
“Respect for international law and meaningful diplomacy must always trump war. The path to global stability lies in negotiation, accountability, and multilateral engagement — not unilateral military action,” Hendricks stated.
The party further cautioned that continued military escalation risks broader regional destabilisation and called for restraint by all parties involved. Al Jama-ah stressed that acts of warfare during the holy month of Ramadan are particularly distressing to the Muslim world and urged an immediate cessation of hostilities.
Al Jama-ah also called on regional leadership structures to strengthen intelligence and security mechanisms to prevent further destabilisation and to safeguard national sovereignty.
The party reiterated its longstanding position advocating for a multipolar global order rooted in justice, sovereignty, and respect among nations.
“The international community must recommit to a rules-based order that protects all nations equally. The world cannot afford a system where military might determines moral authority,” Hendricks concluded.
Al Jama-ah calls upon Muslim-majority nations and the broader international community to intensify diplomatic efforts, prioritise peace-building initiatives, and work collectively toward de-escalation.
