Al Jama-ah Confirms Support for National Dialogue — Committed to Citizen-led Renewal

Cape Town — Al Jama-ah is proud to announce its full support for the National Dialogue initiative and confirms its participation in the upcoming First National Convention, scheduled to take place from 15 to 17 August 2025 at Unisa in Pretoria.

The party fully endorses the National Dialogue which will address pivotal issues such as poverty, unemployment, inequality, crime, and political fragmentation. These critical issues to be discussed have the support of several civil society organisations, Foundations, Non-Governmental Organisations and Community-Based Organisations.

We have confidence that the party’s three representatives to the National Dialogue will contribute meaningfully to setting the agenda on the way forward for the country and ensure that our constituents are actively represented.

Apart from the party’s three representatives, its President, Hon Ganief Hendricks who is Deputy Minister of Social Development is known as a Champion in highlighting the plight of the most vulnerable and marginalised communities, will attend as well.

“We welcome this National Dialogue based on inclusivity, giving various sectors within communities an opportunity to discuss the way forward to bring about much-needed socio-economic changes in our country,” says Al Jama-ah’s Secretary-General Faried Achmat.

According to Achmat, the Party’s President has already hit the road to get support for the National Dialogue and has engaged with Mkhalelwa Zuma a community leader in Umgeni, representatives of 5000 sugar cane grower in Matubatuba and with the leaders of five royal houses in KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape and with the legal fraternity in Pietermaritzburg.

“The National Dialogue will be what CODESA should have been all about and not the concessions made which leaves gaps for a return to apartheid,” says Achmat.
