By-Election in Mamelodi – Al Jama-ah Party takes first steps to play a decisive role in the Tshwane Metro:
Al Jama-ah Party has taken the first steps to play a decisive role in the governing of Tshwane Metro like it does in the Johannesburg Metro where the party had the mayorship for two years.
Furthermore, Al Jama-ah chairs the political structure of the local Johannesburg Metro GNU (Government of National Unity) and it’s President, Hon Ganief Hendricks who is the Deputy Minister of Social Development, is also the Presidential champion of the District Development Model for Johannesburg.
The party is contesting today’s (1 October 2025) by-election in Ward 10 in Mamelodi in the Tshwane Metro to test its support without having done any constituency work in the area. However, its ward candidate, Mr Matemba Shahid, is a known community worker who believes in efficient service delivery to communities.
“Despite no footprint in Ward 10, the party is looming to a favourable outcome and it is settling 40 candidates for the 2026 local municipal elections; and at the same time, also settling the Mayoral candidate for Tshwane,” says Hendricks.
