Deputy Minister of Social Development Ganief Hendricks led an Integrated Community Registration Outreach Programme (ICROP) at the Dulcie September Hall in Athlone on 6 March 2026, bringing a range of government services directly to residents.

The outreach programme provided an opportunity for community members to access information and assistance across social development, SASSA services, Home Affairs, healthcare, voter education and registration, and support for community organisations.

Residents were also able to engage directly with officials, access assistance with social grants and pension matters, and receive support with services such as Smart ID and passport applications. School uniforms were also handed over to local children.

The programme further provided information for civil society organisations on NPO compliance, grant funding and capacity building, supporting organisations that play an important role in their communities.

ICROP reflects the importance of taking government services beyond offices and into communities — making assistance more accessible, connecting residents with the services available to them, and ensuring that communities are not left behind.
