On 23 April 2026, MMC for Community Development Thapelo Amad, together with Mayoral Committee Councillors and officials from the City of Johannesburg, engaged residents of Region F on key matters relating to the Integrated Development Plan (IDP), Medium-Term Budget, and proposed rates and tariffs.
The session brought together residents from 19 wards across the region, reflecting strong community interest in shaping local priorities. During the engagement, MMC Amad responded to questions and provided clarity on issues relating to the Department of Community Development, ensuring that residents had direct access to information and decision-makers.
Municipal departments were present with on-site kiosks for walk-in assistance, enabling residents to engage directly with officials, raise queries, and access services in a practical and immediate way.
The engagement centred on the IDP as the “People’s Plan” — a framework grounded in:
- Collaboration with residents
- Building trust and accountability
- Prioritising basic services
- Delivering what matters most
- Transforming the city
- Encouraging community ownership
Through initiatives like these, the City continues to strengthen participatory governance — ensuring that development is not only planned for communities, but shaped with them.
