On the eve of the Career Expo held on 3 June, the leader of the Al Jama-ah party, Ganief Hendricks, visited Chief Zulu in Sheshegu village near Alice (eDikeni) in the Eastern Cape, in a heartfelt display of respect, unity, and cultural appreciation.
In a gesture of honour and goodwill, Hendricks gifted the Chief a sheep, symbolising solidarity and respect for traditional leadership and the local community. The handover took place at the historic family home built by Chief Zulu’s father, a home that carries deep cultural and historical significance within the village.
Ahead of the Career Expo, the visit created an opportunity for meaningful engagement between community leaders, residents, and representatives of Al Jama-ah. Embracing the spirit of togetherness, Hendricks also joined village women in preparing food for the evening feast, sharing in the customs, hospitality, and traditions of the community.
The evening was marked by warmth, cultural pride, and unity as residents gathered in anticipation of the Career Expo focused on empowering young people through education, skills development, and future opportunities. The occasion highlighted the importance of preserving cultural traditions while strengthening relationships between communities and leadership in advancing social upliftment and empowerment in rural areas such as Sheshegu.
