Galliot Park Officially Launched Through R3 Million Private Investment in Johannesburg

On 21 April 2026, MMC for Community Development Thapelo Amad joined the Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ), officials from the City of Johannesburg, and residents of Galliot Park for the official launch of the newly developed public space.

The project represents a R3 million private investment, delivered through a collaborative effort between public stakeholders and private partners. The initiative underscores the growing importance of public-private partnerships in expanding and improving urban recreational infrastructure across Johannesburg.

The launch reflects a shared commitment to revitalising community spaces and reinforcing the principle that public spaces belong to the people. It also highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen safe, accessible, and well-maintained environments where residents can gather, interact, and enjoy shared community facilities.

According to stakeholders involved in the project, the development of Galliot Park demonstrates how coordinated investment and collaboration between government entities and private contributors can directly support community upliftment and urban renewal objectives within the city.
