Deputy Minister Hon. Ganief Hendricks spoke at the National Farm Workers Platform 2025 at the Cresta Grande Hotel in Cape Town; this was a three-day event that started on the 26 Aug and ended on the 28 Aug 2025.
The DM Honorable Ganief Hendricks spoke about critical amendments to the Labour Tenants Act. And addressed farmworkers and dwellers on: “Using equitable access to land and a moratorium on farm evictions to minimize farm workers’ vulnerability to the polycrisis.”
Deputy Minister Hendricks listened to the plight of farm dwellers and farm victims evicted from their anthropological land and identifies loopholes in the Land Tenure Act meant to protect them and gives an undertaking to amend the Act making it less easy for farmers to evict them in the Drakenstein Municipality where there are 169 cases by farmers using the loopholes to evict them legally.
