ANNOUNCEMENT OF AL JAMA-AH’s EXECUTIVE MAYOR FOR CITY OF JOHANNESBURG (COJ)

The President of Al Jama-ah and Deputy Minister of Social Development in the Government of National Unity (GNU) officially announces the appointment of ALJAMA- AH’s Executive Mayor, set to become the elected executive mayor for the City of Johannesburg (COJ) in November 2026 and serve a five year term.
An AL JAMA-AH mayor for the COJ is not a pipedream as AL JAMA-AH has previously took charge of the mayoral parlour for 21 months with two mayors respectively. Today, AL JAMA-AH’s President, Hon Ganief Hendricks, is the Presidential Champion for the Johannesburg Metro which is one of 52 districts in terms of the District Development Plan for the next decade.
In a rural city in a palatial tent, seen in the days of brother Colonel Gadaffi, situated on 26 On Pier Ruimsig in Johannesburg metro,the President of ALJAMA-AH Ganief Hendricks, Member of Parliament announce Ashley Mama as its Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg. Emerging as a Palestinian activist, Ashely Mama, a 39 year-old member of AL JAMA-AH met the party’s criteria which can be broadly listed as being well-known for his community leadership.
Ashley Mama is known as a person who has a great driving force to deliver and the social impact of his performance has been evident in the communities he has served. Furthermore evidence of his entrepreneurial journey and reputation rests squarely on the his signature and strength in conflict and resolution, ensuring another criteria in economic empowerment.
But what matters significantly is having a good mentor who is rooted in the of politics of the youth league, a heritage of the liberation movement. for him his mentor was his dad who was a 1976 activist, a team (inaudible) that served 16 years on Robben Island. Rooted in leadership and economic empowerment, Ashley Mama made the cut to lead the mayoral parlour and give life to the legacy of the 1976 Uprisings by primary and high school learners; the legacy of Soweto for Johannesburg! It will be a blot on our legacy should Helen Zille become the mayor for the COJ.
AL JAMA-AH does not expect any Sowetan to betray the 1976 Youth Uprising. AL JAMA- AH calls on ALL Sowetans to join the march and manifesto launch on Saturday, 17 October 2026, hot on the heels of a previous manifesto launch in Kliptown embodying the principles of the Freedom Charter.
Ashley Mama is a kid of Soweto and he will share AL JAMA-AH’s community informed manifesto at the commemorative march and public launch thereof which is rooted in community priorities, constitutional democracy and the unfinished goals of the 1976 Uprisings. AL JAMA-AH will complete that which was started and that will serve as one of its slogans.
