Al Jama-ah Calls for Immediate International Action to Stop the Genocide of Palestinians:
Al Jama-ah has submitted a request to the Speaker of Parliament for an urgent debate on the atrocities committed by the Zionist Israeli entity in the West Bank and the complicity of South African political parties and others who unashamedly support Israel.
The continues genocide committed against innocent Palestinian civilians constitute one of the greatest moral failures of our time. In the face of the clear rulings of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), repeated United Nations resolutions, and the overwhelming global call to end the humanitarian catastrophe in Palestine, the continues genocide remains a profound indictment on humanity and the international community.
Al Jama-ah is extremely concern over the escalating violence against the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian Territories, particularly across the West Bank and Gaza. Reports of daily attacks on Palestinian civilians, the destruction of homes, hospitals, mosques, churches and essential infrastructure, the closure of roads connecting Palestinian communities, the destruction of livelihoods, and the loss of lives demand an urgent, coordinated and decisive international response.
These are not isolated incidents. They form part of a sustained pattern of genocide, illegal settlement expansion, forced displacement and systematic violations of international law that continue to erode any realistic prospect of achieving a just, peaceful and lasting resolution to the conflict.
Al Jama-ah strongly supports independent international investigations into all alleged violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law. Those responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity must be held fully accountable through the appropriate international legal mechanisms.
“Human dignity and the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people have been violated to an intolerable degree,” says Al Jama-ah’s Member of Parliament Hon. Imraan Ismail Moosa.
Al Jama-ah calls upon the international community to:
– Unequivocally condemn all attacks against Palestinian civilians and their property.
– Ensure independent international investigations into these serious and ongoing violations and hold all perpetrators accountable.
– Fully implement the 2024 Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice affirming the illegality of Israel’s occupation and settlement enterprise.
– End all economic and financial support that directly or indirectly sustains illegal settlements.
– That South Africa ends all diplomatic relations-; economic-; and cultural ties with the Zionist entity.
– Ensure the effective protection of Palestinian civilians in accordance with international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions and relevant United Nations resolutions.
Al Jama-ah further calls upon all political parties represented in the Parliament of South Africa to support the Anti-Apartheid Bill, which seeks to give practical effect to South Africa’s constitutional commitment to justice, equality, human rights and international law by strengthening measures against Israel’s system of apartheid and unlawful occupation.
South Africa has earned global respect through its principled defence of international law, including its historic leadership before the International Court of Justice. “We believe the time has come to reinforce these legal efforts with stronger practical measures that reflect our nation’s unwavering commitment to justice, accountability and the protection of innocent civilians,” says Moosa.
Al Jama-ah reaffirms its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and calls upon governments, international organisations and all defenders of human rights to move beyond statements of concern and take concrete, lawful and meaningful action to end impunity, uphold international law, protect civilians and secure a comprehensive, just and lasting peace.
“History will not judge us by the statements we made, but by the action we took when innocent men, women and children cried out for justice. Silence in the face of oppression is not neutrality—it is complicity. Humanity demands that we defend the dignity, honour and fundamental rights of every Palestinian with courage, conviction and unwavering principle. The world has a legal duty, a moral responsibility and a human obligation to act now. Justice delayed is justice denied, and every innocent life lost diminishes us all,” states Moosa.
