Several of Al Jama-ah’s lawmakers in the three tiers of government have made great strides in being elected on committees which address fundamental Issues affecting communities at local, provincial, national and international level

The party has good reason to be proud of its lawmakers who have made great strides leading to their representations on various committees. These include Member of Parliament, Hon Ganief Hendricks; Member of Provincial Legislature WC: Hon Galil Brinkhuis; Executive Mayor City of Johannesburg, Kabelo Gwamanda, Ward Councillor Imraan Moosa; and its PR Councillors

in KwaZulu-Natal, Asghar Khan and G.M Cele; and in the City of Cape Town (CoCT) Adv Shameemah Salie.

Apart from several other achievements made to benefit the party’s constituencies, Hendricks was a delegate and member of the SA Parliamentary delegation at the recent BRICS summit held in Johannesburg; Brinkhuis was selected by the WC Legislature to form part of a delegation to the 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference which took place in Ghana over the last few days.

In the ‘city of gold’ and South Africa’s largest economic hub, Gwamanda was elected by a coalition of opposition parties to lead the CoJ as mayor and the party’s ‘beloved’ ward councillor in Lenasia, Johannesburg, Moosa, is the Chairperson of Johannesburg’s Environment and Infrastructure Services which comprises the City Power, Water and PickItup services.

Furthermore, the party’s PR councillors, Asghar Khan in KwaZulu-Natal is the Chairperson of the Municipal Public Accounts Committee; and Cele has been elected earlier this year as Chief Whip at the Umuziwabantu Local Municipality; Adv Salie was this week appointed by the CoCT executive mayor to serve on the Area Local Drug Action Committee.

Al Jama-ah’s CEO, Professor Haron says the party is proud of its Lawmakers’ progress which is indicative of their hard work and commitment to serve the people.
