Over the last few years I have worked diligently with different NPO’s and NPC’s to expand the footprint of Al Jama-ah in MPlain. Mitchell’s Plain consists of 9 Wards and is a significant area to cover.

Because I have access to COCT, Western Cape Government and National Parliament, I work mostly with aspirant councillors.

My main focus is service delivery excellence and to help the community whereever possible. As part of this service, I manage all housing queries in the immediate and surrounding areas, as well as indigent grants.
Mll Ely and Mll Reyan are the perfect partners and we work well together as a team.
Together I believe we will go from strength to strength.

In our most recent Membership Drive we attained:
– 50 memberships
– processed housing queries: 75
– processed Indigent Grants: 47
– new business ventures: 2
– Joint Venture: 49 Flea market Sunday venture with Mll R Petersen
– Mll Ely: 182 memberships
– Mll R Petersen: 247 memberships

Housing:
A constant challenge on managing the housing appplication process is logistics – due to the realities of their circumstances, applicants keeps changing telephone numbers. So when the City receive their request they cannot be reached.
Newer applications now process 100% online, the applicant then receives an sms to say that they are now registered. As for new projects being built the Councillor of the Ward must be notified.

Indigent Grant :
Our deadline was 30 June 2023. The City fulfillment document was thankfully reduced from 9 pages to 2 pages, however all  the applications had to be reprocessed because requirements changed on 3 August. A COGTA document now had to be signed by every applicant who house was evaluated at above 450k.
This has been challenging, as Pelican Park is the custodian of these documents and in most instances the Sassa form and Affadavidt is missing. All 40 applications are now waiting on the COGTA form. So pensioners who were billed for the month of July, now want a refund!!
