Deputy Minister of Social Development Ganief Hendricks has reached an agreement with the acting Head of SASSA in the Western Cape to bring immediate comfort to pensioners .

Those recipients who have been called in for a review and who have not yet done so – their grants will still be paid in August and September. They now have a little more time to get to the SASSA offices, but are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.

Frail and elderly pensioners will now have an express Q.
Steps are going to be put in place, that if they are not attended to on their first visit, they will at the least receive a firm appointment in the weeks to follow.

Going forward, the DM will meet with SASSA top brass in the Western Cape bi monthly.
And SASSA top management has agreed to meet with DM within a 4 hour notice – for emergencies.
