In honor of Women’s Day 2025, the Al-Jama-ah political party, known for its unwavering commitment to faith-based governance and community upliftment hosted a powerful program in Bonteheuwel on 10 August. The event was graced by the presence of Deputy Minister Ganief Hendricks, founder of Al-Jama-ah and a pioneering voice for ethical leadership in South Africa.
Under his guidance, Al-Jama-ah continues to champion the rights and dignity of women, youth, and families, rooted in Islamic values and social justice. The Women’s Day program reflects this mission, offering a space for reflection, celebration, and collective action.
“This is not just a commemoration – it’s a reaffirmation of our belief that women are the backbone of our communities and the heart of our future,” says Deputy Minister Hendricks.
“Al-Jama-ah stands firm in its support for women’s leadership, both in the home and in public life.”
The event was coordinated by Maulana Yassien Fortune, a dedicated community organizer and emerging leader within Al-Jama-ah’s Cape Town structures. Known for his work in Bonteheuwel, Kalksteenfontein, and surrounding areas, Yassien brings a deep commitment to faith, service, and inclusive empowerment.
“As a proud member of Al-Jama-ah, I’m honoured to help bring this vision to life,” says Yassien. “This Women’s Day is about recognizing the everyday heroines among us those who lead with love, sacrifice, and strength.”
Awards were presented to Bonteheuwel residents and ladies from various organisations.
