MMC for Community Development, Thapelo Amad, together with Councillor Jakes Karolia, attended a Council meeting of the City of Johannesburg on 30 March 2026.
During the sitting, MMC Amad took the opportunity to engage directly with councillors, listening to the challenges faced within their respective wards and strengthening collaborative efforts to improve service delivery across communities.
As part of the proceedings, MMC Amad tabled the department’s quarterly report, outlining progress, key interventions, and identified areas for further development. The report reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to responsive and accountable governance.
Notably, the Chairperson of the Section 79 Oversight Committee, together with fellow councillors, commended the performance of the Community Development Department, recognising its efforts in addressing community needs and driving impactful programmes.
The engagement underscores a continued commitment to transparency, cooperation, and building stronger, more responsive local governance.
