Dear Team,
Thank you to everyone who gave their time, energy and hands over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to make this year’s Mandela Day programme such a success. From the early-morning Zoo Trot to the 67 Minutes activities, the weekend reflected exactly the spirit Madiba asked of us — hands ready, and work done without needing applause.

To Eleanor and the EWT team, together with our partners from IUCN, GDF and Cherry South Africa — thank you for your continued collaboration and commitment to conservation; this partnership is at the heart of what we achieved.
Thank you to Alton and his team for their support on the ground, to Cynthia and Lesiba in Horticulture for preparing and maintaining our green spaces, and to Bulelwa, Thabo and the cleaning team for keeping the Zoo presentable throughout a demanding weekend.
To our volunteers Maps and the Scouts and Kenneth from audit , thank you for choosing to give up your weekend for a cause many of you may never see the full benefit of. That choice is Mandela’s legacy in its purest form.
Finally, thank you to Jenny, Alet, Letta and, the CRM team, Nathi Mvula and Eleanor for the coordination, planning and quiet hard work that held the entire weekend together. None of this happens without you.
It was a privilege to lead this with such a committed team.
