Cllr Thapelo Amad of Al Jama-ah attends a 3 generation women’s summit at the cradle of human kind.
This is a high-level, intergenerational women’s leadership and civic engagement summit, rather than a general public social event.
The programme specifically brings together three generations of women:
Women of 1956 — “The Pioneers”: women associated with the 1956 generation and its legacy of courage, sacrifice and collective action.
Women of 1976 — “The Leaders”: women connected to the 1976 generation, particularly its activism, participation and leadership.
Women of 2026 — “The Custodians”: emerging/current women leaders who are expected to carry the work forward.
The audience also includes senior women leaders, public-sector and political/governance representatives, civil-society leaders, activists, community leaders, academics/professionals, entrepreneurs and younger/emerging women leaders. This is evident from the six commissions covering governance, GBV, food security, education/technology, social change and arts/culture, as well as the participation of government and sector representatives.
