As part of its eThekwini mayoral campaign launch, Al Jama-ah hosted a fundraising gala dinner at Kasbah Restaurant in Durban, bringing together 70 prominent members of the city’s business community.

The dinner formed part of a programme marking the launch of Saleem Hassan’s mayoral candidacy, providing an opportunity for the party to engage with business leaders as it prepares for the campaign ahead.

Al Jama-ah President and Deputy Minister of Social Development, the Honourable MP Ganief Hendricks, addressed the gathering.

The event highlighted the importance of building relationships and support as the party prepares to take its campaign to communities across eThekwini.

For any political organisation, sustaining its work requires commitment, participation and resources. Engagement with the business community provides an opportunity to build connections with people involved in Durban’s economic life.

With Saleem Hassan as its eThekwini mayoral candidate, Al Jama-ah has outlined priorities that include accountable and ethical local government, improved service delivery, economic development, job creation, responsible management of public resources and meaningful engagement with residents.

The fundraising gala formed one part of the wider campaign launch, bringing the party and members of Durban’s business community together as the work ahead gets underway.
