On 12 September 2026, Al Jama-ah Councillor Thapelo Amad, Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Sport and Recreation in Johannesburg, supported the FARPost Cup 2026 at the Nike Football Training Centre in Soweto.

The tournament forms part of a broader effort to use sport as a tool for positive social change, raising awareness about substance abuse and gender-based violence (GBV), promoting social cohesion and helping to reduce crime among young people.

A collaborative initiative involving the Johannesburg Football Association, the City of Johannesburg and Lucky Star, the FARPost Cup provides aspiring footballers with a platform to showcase their talent, gain exposure to scouts and pursue opportunities to develop their sporting careers.

Building Towards 2030

The finals marked the culmination of the five-month Road to 2030 youth development initiative, which included SAFA-accredited coaching workshops and player trials led by technical facilitators, including Professor Augusto Palacios.

Eight regional grassroots Under-17 teams competed in the tournament, representing:
– Soweto
– Riverlea
– Eldorado Park
– Kwa-Thema
– Vosloorus
– Mamelodi
– Olievenhoutbosch
– Kagiso

By supporting initiatives such as the FARPost Cup, Al Jama-ah recognises the role sport can play in youth development, creating opportunities for young people and building stronger, safer and more connected communities.
