Al Jama-ah volunteers from Paarl East and Wellington took their campaign to the community outside Lappert Street Mosque in Paarl today, engaging with residents ahead of the upcoming local government elections.
The outreach coincided with a thought-provoking khutbah delivered by Sheikh Ighsaan Taliep, who addressed the genocide of Palestinians and called on the congregation to reflect on the importance of conscience, justice and moral responsibility.
His message extended beyond the immediate suffering of the Palestinian people, encouraging people to consider the values that guide their choices — including the decisions they make at the ballot box.
As local government elections approach, the call to vote with a conscience places renewed focus on the responsibility of voters to consider the principles, conduct and commitments of those seeking public office.
For Al Jama-ah’s Paarl East and Wellington volunteers, campaigning is an opportunity to connect with communities and encourage residents to take an active role in shaping the future of their neighbourhoods.
Every vote carries a responsibility. Every choice matters. And every community deserves leadership guided by conscience, accountability and a commitment to serving its people.
