Al Jama-ah pays tribute to anti-apartheid leader Oliver Reginald Tambo in marking his birthday, 27 October 2026
Party leader in the GNU (Government of National Unity) Hon Ganief Hendricks who is President of the Al Jama-ah Party, has lauded the tributes paid by retired Constitutional Court Justice Mbuyiseni Madlanga and Deputy President Paul Mashatile to the late anti-apartheid activist, Oliver Reginald Kaizana Tambo in remembrance of his birthday today, 27 October 2026.
“In paying tribute to the former President of the ANC, Mashatile described Tambo as a great leader and called on South Africans to remember the contributions Tambo has made to the liberation struggle. This, reminds me that Tambo’s vision for the ANC should be referred to as ‘Heritage ANC’,” says Hendricks.
He calls on all freedom and justice loving South Africans and political parties such as the ANC, MK, EFF AND PAC for an urgent return to the ‘Heritage ANC’ as led by Tambo.
“Former liberation movements and like-minded political parties must return to the ethical leadership displayed by Oliver Tambo. They must pursue leadership based on true democracy, justice, equality and the power of ordinary people to shape the future of their country as stated by Mashatile in his tribute to Tambo,” says Hendricks.
