Cllr Thapelo Amad of Al Jama-ah today at the launch of the 9th annual Ride4Hope cycling challenge, with the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s, CEO shared an inspiring story of how Madiba used his global stature and influence to mobilise support and resources for the most vulnerable in our society. It was a powerful reminder that true leadership is measured by the lives we uplift and the opportunities we create for others.

It is a great privilege to welcome you to this very special occasion as we celebrate the official handover of three newly built classrooms through the #Classrooms4Hope initiative.

Education remains one of the most powerful catalysts for change. For a learner, the environment in which they learn matters. That is why today’s handover is so significant. These three classrooms represent an investment in the learners who will occupy them today, but also in the generations of learners who will follow.

The name #Classrooms4Hope captures the essence of what we are celebrating.
I hope that through education and literacy, young people can acquire the knowledge and confidence they need to participate meaningfully in society and the economy. And hope that, collectively, we can continue addressing the inequalities that affect our communities.
As the City of Johannesburg, we believe strongly in creating access to opportunities.
Education is one of the most important avenues through which we create that access.
